How to get your mobile boarding pass:

1. Check in on aa.com and choose 'Email with Mobile Option.
2. Check your email from your mobile device and follow the link to get your mobile boarding pass.
3. Save the boarding pass to your device for easy access at security and when you board.

There are three ways to print your boarding pass, after you check-in, which can be done 24 hours prior to your departure. After you access your reservation through whichever agency you booked your flight and obtain your Confirmation Number, Record Locator, or PNR (all the same) you can print your boarding pass as follows:

1. Print your boarding pass at home or work by accessing AA.com .
2. Print your boarding pass at the kiosk at the airport.
3. Have an agent print your boarding pass at the AA counter at the airport.

You can use the AA app on your phone and obtain an electronic boarding pass and avoid having it printed altogether.

In some cases you will not be able to print your boarding pass until you get to the airport the day of your flight.

If you are flying international you can still check-in at home or work and submit your passport information online, but you will need to have your passport physically available and verified at the airport.

Also, arrive at the airport at least an hour before domestic flight departure times and two hours before international flight departure times.

Check-in cuts off 30 to 45 minutes prior to departure and flights begin boarding at this 30 minute point. You cannot check-in after cut-off and you cannot check a bag past this point, even if you have checked in prior to coming to the airport. AIRCRAFT DOORS CLOSE 10 minutes prior to scheduled departure and you will not board.

There are several ways to get your boarding pass, assuming you don't have anything unusual in your AA reservations or travel profile.

You can check in on the website (Airline tickets and cheap flights at AA.com) starting 24 hours before departure and ending one hour before. This will give you the option of printing your boarding pass at home or the office. You can also email the boarding pass if you have a smart phone.

You can install the American app on your phone and check in using the app. This also results in a mobile boarding pass. You display the electronic pass at security and again at the gate. For iOS you can put the pass in your wallet. You can check in at the airport using a kiosk and print paper boarding passes.

If you have any complications, you can see an agent at the airport. Allow extra time in case there are lines. I went through a period where I had to check in with an agent until I filed for a TSA redress. It was annoying and I almost missed one checkin cutoff time.
