How to Fix Gmail Authentication Issues?

  1. Open your Gmail account.
  2. Select ‘My account’.
  3. Select ‘Sign-in and Security’ from menu given on left.
  4. Now turn on the 2-Step Verification.
  5. With 2-Step Verification users are notified if any new device access Google account. It is authorized with a code. To keep it turned on users can set an app specific password.
  6. You also need to enable ‘allow less secure apps’ option so other apps can access Gmail.

Enable IMAP access in Gmail.

  1. Log-in to your account.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Then select Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
  4. Now enable IMAP.
  5. Save the changes.
  6. Then turn on ‘Access for less secure apps’ option.
  7. Now you have to add your account with Outlook.
  8. To setup IMAP email settings
  9. Enter your name and email address.
  10. Then enter your password.
  11. Now for Incoming Mail Server name enter ‘imap.gmail.com’
  12. Select SSL for Encrypted Connection
  13. Enter SSL Port number as 993
  14. For Outgoing Mail Server name enter ‘smtp.gmail.com’
  15. Select SSL for Encrypted Connection
  16. Enter SSL Port number as 465
  17. To set up POP3 email settings
  18. Enter ‘pop.gmail.com’ for Incoming Mail Server name.
  19. Select SSL for Encrypted Connection
  20. Enter SSL Port number as 995
  21. For Outgoing Mail Server name enter ‘smtp.gmail.com’
  22. Select SSL for Encrypted Connection
  23. Enter SSL Port number as 465

If you want to know How to use Gmail as a mail server in Device Manager then follow the steps given below:

  1. Open Gmail account.
  2. Go to settings.
  3. Select SMTP Email.
  4. Now enter the Mail Server IP or the DNS name as ‘smtp.gmail.com’.
  5. Then enter the port number 465
  6. Select the check box of ‘Use SSL’.
  7. Now in ‘From (Return) Email Address’ bar enter your Gmail address.
  8. In the ‘Username’ field again enter your Gmail address.
  9. Now enter your password.
  10. You can further enable ‘allow less secure apps’ option.
